Assessments
Child & Adolescent Assessments
There are many different names for psychological testing and assessment: diagnostic assessment, cognitive assessment, psychoeducational evaluation, learning assessment, intelligence testing, and more. If one of these has been suggested for your child, then you are probably hoping for an answer to the question: why does my child find learning, communication, concentrating, or friendships so difficult? Your child’s assessment at The Psych Hive will help you answer this question as well as provide tailored recommendations to help you best support your child’s development.
What conditions and neurotypes can you diagnose?
The Psych Hive offers testing and assessments for autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and giftedness for those aged 4+.
What makes your assessments neurodivergent-affirming?
The psychologists at The Psych Hive believe that all brain types are unique and valuable, and that this diversity is what makes our community so special. Assessments at The Psych Hive will always centre the client’s lived-experience. We do this by tailoring the assessment approach for each client, using assessment tools that are ND-affirming, gaining supervision and training from neurodivergent people, and by writing reports that are accessible to families and school - not just to other clinicians. We understand that access to a formal diagnosis is a social justice issue, so will do our best to accommodate your goals and access needs.
How much does it cost?
Most assessments range between $3000–$3500 for children and teens.
How long does an assessment take?
Due to our tailored approach, the assessment process will differ case by case. We aim to be as transparent as possible, so below is a general guide:
