  • Dr Jade Goodman (she/her)

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
    CO-DIRECTOR OF THE PSYCH HIVE

    Jade has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with autism, anxiety, mood disorders, and learning and attentional difficulties, in community, school and hospital-based settings.

    Jade has experience in evidence-based therapies, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems therapy (IFS), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and has experience in conducting psychological diagnostic assessments. She has also completed training in trauma-informed care and neurodiversity-affirming care.

    Jade recognises the importance of creating a safe, non-judgemental and collaborative space for individuals and is passionate about empowering her clients and their families to reach their potential.

    Jade has also completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Newcastle. Her research examined the long-term impact childhood trauma has on memory and behaviour.

  • Emily Brichacek (she/her)

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
    CO-DIRECTOR OF THE PSYCH HIVE

    Emily enjoys working with teenagers and adults. Her areas of interest include anxiety and mood disorders, eating disorders, body image concerns, and trauma-related disorders. With a background in elite-level sport, she also able to work with athletes on strategies to support performance and manage performance-related anxiety.

    Emily is trained in evidence-based therapies that include; cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitisation and re-processing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioural therapy – enhanced (CBT-E) for the treatment of eating disorders. She is also able to conduct psychological assessments for learning difficulties (dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc.) and attentional difficulties (ADHD).

    Emily has experience working in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, as well as community-based settings, including Headspace. She graduated with a Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2018, and has worked in private practice serving the Canberra community since this time.

    When not in the therapy room you are most likely to find Emily out mountain biking or hiking through some of the beautiful bushland Canberra has to offer.

  • Brianna Thomas (she/her)

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
    CO-DIRECTOR OF THE PSYCH HIVE

    Brianna is an AuDHD clinician who has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are autistic and ADHDers, and who have anxiety, depression, bipolar, OCD, body image issues, eating disorders and trauma (among many other things) in multiple settings.

    Brianna has experience working with child and adolescent gender, and is a member of AusPATH.

    Brianna is a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist and bases a lot of her work in the amazing realm of play and creative approaches.

    Brianna has experience in evidence-based therapies, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), parts work, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and has experience in conducting psychological diagnostic assessments.

    Brianna practices trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming care in all of her work. She celebrates different brains and aims to make each client feel seen, heard and understood.

    Brianna has completed a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Macquarie, and a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with Honours at the Australian National University.

    Availability: Brianna is closed to individual therapy referrals, but open to adding to her assessment waitlist.

  • Paul Hoare (he/him)

    COUNSELLOR

    Paul has worked in the counselling field both locally and abroad for several years.In this, his experience includes couples counselling, organizing adventure therapy programs, working with victims of trauma, grief and loss, addictions, and anger management. His passions are in couples counselling, men's issues and helping people through anxiety. Whilst being a very down to earth counsellor, Paul is also compassionate and non-judgmental in his approach to counselling. He is a strong believer in the impact that good therapy can have on people’s quality of life and is committed to helping his clients to attain these benefits.

    His therapy approach begins with understanding his clients goals, both for the counselling process and for themselves. Therapy itself includes practical, person-centered and cognitive methods. In couples counselling, he draws from the Gottman method which focuses on effective communication skills and overcoming gridlock in conflict.

    Paul is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia, and has a Masters in Counselling, 3 years of postgraduate studies in psychology, and level 2 Gottman Method therapist training.

    Outside of therapy, Paul goes bushwalking, running or hang-gliding most days (if it's not too cold).

    Availability: Paul is taking referrals for individual therapy for those 16+ and couples. Please note Paul works Fridays at The Psych Hive.

  • Cari Macleod

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
    Cari On Psychology

    Cari is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who works from a strengths-based , neuro-affirming perspective. She has owned and operated her solo private practice, Cari On Psychology, for several years and is thrilled to be joining the Psych Hive.

    Cari enjoys working with children and adolescents and supporting adults in their parenting journey. She works with a variety of presentations including (but not limited to) pre/post-natal depression and anxiety, parental stress, Autism, ADHD, anxiety, phobias, OCD, depression, eating disorders including ARFID and with toileting concerns e.g., encopresis.

    Whether she is working with young children or teens/adults, Cari works in a play-based and creative way and wants therapy to be fun and accessible. She uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and positive psychology approaches as a basis for her work.

    Outside of work, Cari loves being a Mum to two daughters, running at a very average pace with her pup Waffles and expanding her Lego collection.

    Availability: Cari’s books are currently closed for individual therapy, but she welcomes new patients to her wait list. She has availability for ADHD, cognitive and learning assessments as soon as Dec 2024.

  • Tharindi Buddhadasa (she/her)

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

    Tharindi has experience providing evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with mild to complex mental health difficulties, in hospital, private practice and community based settings.

    Tharindi has a particular interest in working with children under 12, and their families, experiencing difficulties related to anxiety, depression, OCD, grief and trauma-related presentations. Tharindi uses a variety of evidence-based interventions with her clients and has received training in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focussed CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Tharindi is also trained to deliver the “Tuning into Kids” parenting program, and the “Cool Kids” and “Cool Little Kids” anxiety management programs.

    Tharindi can also provide treatment to adults with anxiety, depression or stress as primary presenting problems.

    Tharindi is a registered clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA). She completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Canberra and her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the Australian National University. She is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

    Availability: Tharindi is open to individual therapy referral for children. Not currently accepting assessment referrals.

  • Lisa Shirt (she/her)

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

    Lisa is a neurodivergent clinician who enjoys working with people to improve their wellbeing using a neuroaffirming, strengths-focused framework. She is able to conduct assessments and is experienced in a number of evidence-based therapies.

    Lisa aims to not just give people a ‘yes/no’ outcome at the end of the assessment process but intends to help people gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

    Lisa has worked in not-for-profit, private practice, government, and tertiary sectors, so has a wide range of experience in providing individuals with assistance in different contexts. Her passion is working with adults, including those who are neurodivergent, those who identify as LGBTQIA+, and those with bipolar, anxiety and depression.

    Lisa is a member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) and is a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) Approved Supervisor. She completed her university studies at Macquarie University and the University of Canberra, culminating in a Master of Clinical Psychology.

    Outside of work, Lisa enjoys picking up random trivia and hunting for fun earrings.

    Availability: Lisa is available for adult assessment and closed for adult therapy referrals.

  • Chloe Hulse

    REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

    Chloe is a registered psychologist with experience working in out of home care settings with adolescents and families, as well as in crisis settings working with complex trauma. Chloe has a special interest in working with neurodivergent clients, particularly children, teenagers and young adults. Chloe has experience working with autistic individuals, ADHDers, those experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD and a variety of other presentations.

    Chloe takes a person-centred, neurodiversity affirming and trauma informed approach to therapy. Neurodiversity Affirming therapy aims to affirm the different neurotype of a neurodivergent person. Therapy aims to help the person explore their neurodivergent identity and find and utilise their own strengths. Chloe offers a safe and supportive therapy environment for neurodivergent individuals.

    When working with clients Chloe tailors her approach to each client, usually working from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) frameworks.

    Availability: Chloe is taking individual therapy referrals and is available Fridays monthly.

  • Franchesca Isla

    COUNSELLOR

    Francesca will be on extended leave from November 2024

    Franchesca, a mother and author, has completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology - with a major in Counselling - and a Master of Social Work. She is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers; and has worked as a counsellor assisting women impacted by domestic and family violence. Franchesca has also worked for Australia's leading bullying prevention charity, Bully Zero - and founded its blog, Brave.

    With a rich understanding of trauma - specialising in case management support for victim-survivors of abuse, Franchesca writes, partakes in interviews, and facilitates in-person and online presentations on notions correlating to mental health - actively collaborating with organisations across Australia.

    When working alongside clients who may view themselves in a negative light, Franchesca implements a trauma-informed lens to help shift personal perspective from ‘What is wrong with me?’ to ‘What happened to me?’ Franchesca hopes that upon completion of therapy, clients will be able to hold meaningful emotive space for self-compassion - inevitably aiding in their healing.

    Availability: Franchesca is closed to new clients and will be taking extended leave from November 2024
